With the memory of a bust in the 90's still fresh, Dallas commercial real estate listings have suffered from the recession as much as the rest of the country. While there has traditionally been a strong demand for commercial property in Dallas, the vast expanses of available commercial grade land have provided ample supply to match. However, low costs combined with low taxes and a healthy labor pool drawn to cheap housing have helped prevent Dallas office listing vacancies from dipping more than 20% in over a decade. In contrast, Dallas industrial and retail properties have not been as fortunate, and suffered from high variance in asset value through each economic cycle. While the overall Dallas commercial real estate listings market has good promise, it is currently best-suited for investors with long-term horizons.
